He then gave the first lesson of the year to the students in class 12 A. Addressing the students, Minister Bayraktar said, “If Al Cezeri built machines 900 years ago with only water resources and some mechanical parts, I believe that you will be among the pioneers of the use of green energy.” He added, “There is nothing we cannot achieve if you work hard. Believe in yourself, trust in yourself.”

Carbon Neutral Targets
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Bayraktar mentioned Türkiye's 2053 carbon neutrality target and said: “We will now provide our energy from greener fuels and greener projects. Therefore, renewable energy is an area that we can never give up and that we need to bring into our economy in the fastest way possible.”

We must also produce the technology
Bayraktar noted that Türkiye is a country with huge wind and solar potential and ranks 11th in the world in terms of installed renewable energy capacity, “We also need to produce these technologies ourselves. We need to develop their industry in our country.”

Full Energy Independence for Türkiye
Emphasizing that human resources are also important in order to achieve these goals, Bayraktar said: “As a country that meets its energy from renewable, domestic resources and produces its equipment with its own engineers and technicians, we will reduce its dependence on foreign energy and achieve the goal of a fully independent Türkiye in energy as well as carbon neutrality.”

We Believe in All of You
Explaining that the school started with 69 students in the 2017-2018 academic year and has been receiving 90 outstanding students every year, Bayraktar said, “Just as Al Cezeri built machines 900 years ago with only water resources and mechanical parts without using electricity, I believe that you will be among the pioneers of renewable and green energy use. Because we believe in all of you. May this belief and determination be very strong in you.” The school was named after scientist Al Cezeri. 

First Lecture
After his speech, Minister Bayraktar went to class 12 A and gave the first lesson of the new academic year. Bayraktar asked the students who will take the university exam at the end of the year which professions they would prefer and received answers such as “Computer engineering, medicine, artificial intelligence, mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering”.

Siamese Twin of Energy
Explaining that they are in a period when electricity is needed for everything, Bayraktar said, “We need to use many resources to meet the increasing need for energy. But we have one more important problem while using it. Along with energy, there is global warming, climate change, which is regarded as the Siamese twin. Therefore, we need to use energy more, but we need to use it from clean, environmentally friendly sources.”

Believe in Yourselves
Bayraktar gave the following advice to young people: If you work, there is nothing we cannot achieve. Believe in yourself, trust in yourself. Strive to be the best in whichever field and profession you choose. Our country needs your efforts. Because Türkiye needs to be strong.
