Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, gave important messages about the Israel-Iran crisis in Russia. Evaluating the impact of the process that started with Israel's attack on Iran on Türkiye’s energy supply security, Minister Bayraktar said, "Iran is one of the largest gas suppliers for Türkiye. We aim for this gas supply to continue in the coming years," he said.

Türkiye and Syria have finalized a roadmap for energy cooperation. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar signed a framework agreement with Syrian Minister of Energy Mohammed Al-Bashir in Damascus. Minister Bayraktar stated that they will export one thousand megawatts of electricity and 2 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Syria and said, “As Türkiye, we are ready to develop projects for the development of Syria with our state and private companies and international partnerships.” Minister Bayraktar also held a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Shara within the scope of his Damascus visits. 

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar spoke for the first time about the new natural gas discovery in the Black Sea. Stating that their goal is to utilize this reserve as soon as possible, Minister Bayraktar said, “The prices we pay abroad, our foreign currency will remain in our own reserves, in our own treasury.”

An FSRU (Floating LNG storage and gasification vessel) belonging to BOTAŞ will leave the borders of Türkiye for the first time and will serve in Egypt in the summer months. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they have realized another first for Türkiye and said, "With the contract signed between our national company BOTAŞ and Egypt's public energy company EGAS, an FSRU in the inventory of BOTAŞ will serve periodically abroad for the first time. Thus, a flexible and efficient utilization model that will contribute to the natural gas supply security of both our country and Egypt will be put into operation."

He evaluated the claims that the Reis Seismic Research Ship found oil in Somalia. “It is out of the question for us to make a statement saying 'We have found something in Somalia' when seismic studies have not yielded any results,” Minister Bayraktar said, underlining that they do not announce results without conducting seismic studies and seeing the results of drilling. Minister Bayraktar stated that they will supply natural gas to Syria from Kilis within the next 3 months and said, “We will provide a daily gas flow of 6 million cubic meters.”
