Mining Agreement between Türkiye and Niger
Türkiye will cooperate with Niger, an African country with rich reserves in the field of mining, on mineral exploration and extraction.
Memorandum of Understanding Signed
Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, held a meeting with Abarchi Ousmane, Minister of Mining of Niger in Istanbul where the ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Mining between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Mining of the Republic of Niger’ was signed.
Cooperation to be Encouraged
The signed MoU will promote information exchange, official level meetings, consultation between relevant ministries and institutions, and co-operation in projects of mutual interest and capacity building. In addition, cooperation activities will be carried out to support sustainable development through the mining sectors of both countries.
Meetings will be held
Turkish public and private sector companies will be encouraged to operate in the mining sector in Niger, negotiations will be held and information will be exchanged on the exploration and extraction of mineral resources in certain regions.
Supporting the Development of Two Countries
Sharing a post on his social media account regarding the agreement, Bayraktar said, ‘I believe that with the signatures signed, our ongoing cooperation in the field of mining will be carried to further dimensions. I wish this agreement, which will support the development of both countries, will be beneficial for our countries.’
He had travelled to Niger in July
Ministerf Bayraktar held meetings in Niamey, the capital of Niger, in July. Bayraktar held meetings with Minister of Mines Ousmane, Minister of Petroleum Mahaman Moustapha Barké and Minister of Energy Amadou Haoua, and then signed the ‘Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in the Field of Oil and Natural Gas’.
