Tender Announcement for SPP Tender in the Official Gazette
The announcement of the tender in the Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) for solar energy was published in the Official Gazette shortly after the announcement for wind energy. The announcement published for 6 projects in 6 provinces in solar energy covers a total capacity of 800 megawatts. Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, stated that they have published the YEKA announcement in solar energy after wind and said that they will reach 120 thousand megawatts of solar and wind installed capacity by 2035.
In October, Minister Bayraktar announced Turkey's 2035 road map in renewable energy and stated that the ministry would no longer make the tender specifications for YEKAs by law, but through a competition procedure.
Applications on 27 January
Following this announcement, YEKA RES-2024 Competition Announcement for wind energy and YEKA GES-2024 Competition Announcement were published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly; 6 competitions based on solar energy will be held for the allocation of connection capacity with a total power of 800 MWe.
Legal entities established as joint stock or limited liability companies according to the Turkish Commercial Code and foreign companies with capital company status will be able to participate in the competition. Applications will be made on 27 January 2025. The place and date of the competitions will be announced on the ministry's website.
Ceiling and Floor Price Announced
The initial ceiling price for each competition was set at 5.50 dollar-cent/kWh and the base price at 3.25 dollar-cent/kWh. In case the base price is reached, the starting price of contribution share increase per MW will be 10 thousand dollars. The 60-month period during which the electricity generated as of the contract signature date is sold in the free market is defined as the ‘Free Market Sales Period’. The ‘Electricity Energy Purchase Period’ will cover 20 years from the end of the Sales Period in the Free Market, during which the generated electricity is supplied to the transmission system.
120 Megawatt Installed Power Target
Making evaluations about the announcement published in the Official Gazette, Minister Bayraktar stated that they announced the YEKA tender in wind last week and said, ‘Last week we announced the WPP tender of one thousand 200 megawatts. Today, we announced the 800-megawatt SPP tender in the Official Gazette. We aim to hold at least 2 thousand megawatt YEKA tenders every year. We will reach 120 thousand megawatts of solar and wind installed capacity by 2035.’
