Strategic Cooperation with the United Kingdom
A strategic cooperation in the field of energy was reached between Türkiye and the United Kingdom. During the contacts of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar in London, he met with Ed Miliband, Secretary of State of Energy Security and Net Zero of the United Kingdom. At the meeting, it was decided to start the Energy and Climate Dialogue between the two countries. Türkiye implemented a similar dialogue mechanism with the USA in May.
Will Contribute to Energy Supply Security
Making a statement on social media regarding the Energy and Climate Dialogue, Minister Bayraktar said, “We continue to sign investments and agreements that will put our country in a central position in energy in a planned and determined manner. We signed a memorandum of understanding on 'Energy and Climate Dialogue' covering important collaborations such as transition to clean energy, low-carbon hydrogen economy, grid modernization, regional interconnections and small modular reactors, with Ed Miliband, Secretary of State of Energy Security and Net Zero in the United Kingdom. I wish that the agreement, in which we have added a new one to our steps towards our energy supply security and independence, will be beneficial to both countries." shared his message.
Meeting with Investors
After the meeting, Minister Bayraktar met with senior executives of global companies operating in the field of green energy under the coordination of JP Morgan. Bayraktar, who gave information about the investments in Türkiye at the meeting, especially focused on the 2035 road map of Türkiye in the field of renewable energy.
Energy Financing
Bayraktar, who held a meeting with the senior executives of UK Export Finance, the export credit financing institution of the United Kingdom, discussed the financing opportunities for energy projects between the two countries.
Meeting with BP Managers
Within the scope of London contacts, Bayraktar also received BP Production and Operations Vice President Gordon Birrell and BP Türkiye Country President Tümkan Işıltan and evaluated the existing cooperations and new projects.

During Minister Bayraktar's visit to the USA in May, the Energy and Climate Dialogue was launched in order to develop energy cooperation between the two countries and to bring together public and private sector representatives.
