First Phase Completed at Sakarya Gas Field
Meeting with a group of journalists, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that the first phase has been completed with a daily production of 9.5 million cubic meters in the Black Sea.

Domestic Gas to More Than 4 Million Households
Sharing the latest situation regarding the natural gas production realized in Sakarya Gas Field, Minister Bayraktar said, “The first phase of Sakarya Gas Field has been completed. With a daily production of approximately 9.5 million cubic meters, we are now continuing the production of the second phase, that is, the activities of the production phase that will double this.”
New Fields in the Target
Minister Bayraktar said, “In addition to the Sakarya Gas Field, we continue our work on new fields, i.e. discoveries. Therefore, we want to increase production on the one hand, and on the other hand, we want to add the new reserves we find with new discoveries to our production reserves. Work in this regard continues.”

Sharing a special video on his social media account, Minister Bayraktar said, “Historical Record in Energy! The first phase of Sakarya Gas Field has been completed. Daily production of 9.5 million m³, domestic and national energy for more than 4 million households!”
The Victory of Perseverance and Faith
Bayraktar stated that they set out with the words of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, “Not every seeker can find, but those who find are the seekers.” and that they have experienced the victory of perseverance and faith, and said, “This victory is the work of perseverance and the will of the nation. We will continue to expand the great energy move that extends from 170 kilometers off the Black Sea to the soil of our country from a depth of kilometers. We are moving forward with determination for an energy independent Türkiye.”
To take office in 2026
Türkiye's first floating production platform arrived in Çanakkale in September. The platform, which is undergoing maintenance and modernization at a shipyard here, is planned to start its duty in Sakarya Gas Field in 2026. With its commissioning, the platform will produce an additional 10 million cubic meters per day. Thus, total production in 2026 will increase to 20 million cubic meters.
Black Sea Gas to All Households
In 2028, daily production is expected to increase to 40 million cubic meters and the natural gas needs of all households will be met from the Sakarya Gas Field.
