New Natural Gas Discovery in the Black Sea

Minister Bayraktar made various contacts in Bartın. After visiting Bartın Governorship, Bayraktar attended the AK Party Bartın Provincial Consultative Meeting. In his speech here, Bayraktar made evaluations about the new natural gas discovery in the Black Sea announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Press Briefing Before Albania Trip

Stating that he informed President Erdoğan about the discovery before his visit to Albania, Bayraktar said, “We have discovered a large reserve of 75 billion cubic meters, with a market value of $30 billion, which can provide natural gas to all households in Türkiye for 3 and a half years. This is important for us. Because Türkiye's economy has grown from 230 billion dollars to 1.3 trillion dollars under AK Party rule.”

Full Independence

Bayraktar reminded that President Erdoğan put forward the vision of the Century of Türkiye in the 100th year of the Republic and said, “Our goal in the vision of the Century of Türkiye is to make Türkiye fully independent in energy.” 

Support for Energy Bills

Emphasizing that energy imports are a great burden on the economy, Bayraktar said, “We provide a great support as the treasury in order to take this burden from our citizens. Today, as the state, we cover almost 70 percent of the natural gas you use. As the state, we cover 50 percent of the electricity used. As these discoveries, our natural gas production in Sakarya and our oil production in Gabar increase, we will continue to make them.”

A Very Important Discovery

Bayraktar stated that he visited Abdülhamid Han, who made the discovery in the Black Sea, at the Göktepe-3 well and said, “Abdülhamid Han drilled in the middle of the Black Sea, 180 kilometers from here, at a sea depth of 2,154 meters in the middle of the Black Sea, and about 1,200 meters lower after the seabed, and discovered 75 billion cubic meters of natural gas there. This is a very important discovery. Of course, our goal is to utilize this reserve as soon as possible and put it into the service of our citizens.”

Service to Citizens

Pointing out that the discovery in the Black Sea will reduce foreign dependency in this field, Bayraktar said, “The prices we pay to those foreigners, our foreign currency will remain in our own reserves, in our own treasury, and thus different services will be offered to our citizens.”

Natural Gas Good News for 2 Towns

Bayraktar gave natural gas good news to the towns of Abdipaşa and Kumluca in Bartın in honor of the new natural gas discovery in the Black Sea and said, “We will bring natural gas to these places in 2025. Let's also plan for Kurucaşile.”

Plans for New Employment 

Reminding that 2 thousand new miners joined the Turkish Coal Corporation in 2023, Bayraktar said, “God willing, we are in a new planning. We will be adding new colleagues to TTK, and in this sense, to Bartın as well.”

Target Terror Free Türkiye

Bayraktar said that 81 thousand barrels of oil are produced daily in Gabar, where terrorism was once rampant, and added, “Today, Gabar makes an economic contribution of 2 billion dollars a year, almost 80 billion liras. God willing, we will go to Gabar this Monday. Our parliamentary speaker, our deputies, opposition and government will see the place together. Our goal is Türkiye without terrorism.”
