New Era in Economic Cooperation with Angola

Türkiye - Angola 3rd Term Joint Economic Commission (JEC) Meeting was held in Ankara. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and Angolan Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas Diamantino Azevedo chaired the JEC meeting held at the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. While signing a memorandum of understanding after the meeting, Minister Bayraktar said that they aim to increase the trade volume between the two countries to 500 million dollars.

Determination to Move Forward
Ministers Bayraktar and Azevedo made statements to the press members after the one-to-one and delegation meetings. Minister Bayraktar said that the meeting once again demonstrated the determination to further the cooperation between Türkiye and Angola, adding that the trade volume between the two countries was 126 million dollars in 2024. 


The Potential is Great
Bayraktar reminded that the Presidents of the two countries set the goal of increasing the trade volume to 500 million dollars and said, "There is a great potential in cooperation between the two countries. 500 million dollars is an important target for us to reach in the first phase."


Sharing Savings
Stating that energy is one of the most important development tools of today, Bayraktar said that they attach great importance to sharing their technical know-how and experience with friendly countries on the basis of mutual benefit. 


Technical Delegation to Angola
Bayraktar stated that they evaluated the cooperation opportunities between Turkish Petroleum and Sonangol and Angola National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels and said, “We have agreed with the Minister and we will send a delegation from Turkish Petroleum and our mining company to Angola within this month.”
 

Strategic Acquisition
Stating that the steps to be taken in the field of energy are not only economic but also strategic gains, Bayraktar said, “In this way, the cooperation between our countries will become much stronger and much more permanent.”


Great Potential
Angolan Minister Azevedo said that Türkiye has a great potential both culturally and economically and that they would like to benefit from this potential.


Invitation for Investment

Underlining that the JEC meeting will make significant contributions to the relations between the two countries, Angolan Minister Azevedo invited Turkish companies to invest in Angola. Azevedo emphasized that there are important opportunities in his country, especially in mining investments, and noted that he would like to see Turkish companies working in this field in Angola.


Memorandum of Understanding Signed
After the meeting, the two ministers signed the Memorandum of Understanding for the 3rd Joint Economic Commission Meeting between Türkiye and Angola.

After the signing ceremony, Minister Bayraktar got behind the wheel of his red Togg T10X executive car. He took a short city tour with his guest Azevedo.
