100th Anniversary of Türkiye-Egypt Relations
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar attended the reception organized on the occasion of Egyptian National Day. Commemorating the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Minister Bayraktar emphasized that they want to expand cooperation in the field of energy.
Egypt National Day
Amr Elhamamy, the Ambassador of Egypt to Ankara, organized a reception in the embassy garden on the occasion of his country's national day. The reception was attended by Minister Bayraktar and chiefs of diplomatic missions.
Investment Call
Speaking at the ceremony, Bayraktar expressed his satisfaction with the recently developing relations and pointed out that the bilateral trade volume has approached 10 billion dollars. Bayraktar noted that Turkish business people have invested more than 3 billion dollars in Egypt and said, "We are trying to increase the number of Turkish investors and encourage them to turn to new sectors. At the same time, we invite Egyptian investors to explore the opportunities offered by Türkiye."
Two Important Actors
Bayraktar said that he sees energy as one of the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation, adding that Türkiye and Egypt, as two important actors in the region, have strategic ties in ensuring energy security, diversifying supply routes and strengthening regional connectivity.
Areas of Cooperation
“In this context, we want to expand our cooperation in areas such as LNG trade, hydrocarbon exploration, energy infrastructures and nuclear energy, as well as renewable energy investments,” Bayraktar said, adding that close cooperation in energy will serve mutual benefit and regional stability.
Soon to be Concretized
Reminding that a “Memorandum of Understanding on Energy” was signed between Türkiye and Egypt, and that a Turkish Floating LNG storage and regasification vessel (FSRU) will be on duty in Egypt in the summer months with the contract signed between BOTAŞ and EGAS, Bayraktar stated that the concrete results of these agreements will be seen soon.
Message of Friendship
At the end of his speech, Bayraktar noted that it was the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Egypt and wished for the development of friendship and deepening of cooperation between the two countries.
