We Don't Have the Luxury of Selection

Bayraktar stated that its basic policies are to ensure supply security in energy, to reduce foreign dependence and to become a carbon neutral economy, "We need to supply 2 million barrels of oil to the market every day and a terawatt of electricity enough for our 86 million people. That's why we don't have the luxury of choosing a single energy source or a single technology.”

4 Floor Target

Noting that they focus on renewable energy in terms of supply security, Bayraktar said, "We have a very ambitious renewable energy program. We will increase our solar and wind capacity by 4 times in the next 10 years," he said.

Gas for 16 Million Households

Reminding that a large gas reserve was discussed in the Black Sea in 2020, Bayraktar said, "As of today, we supply natural gas to 4 million households from here. We will double this next year. In 2028, we will extract enough gas for 16 million households from the Black Sea." said.

We Can'T Say “No”

Explaining that they have determined 4 blocks in Diyarbakır for producing with non-traditional methods on the oil side, and that they can also produce natural gas with the same methods, Bayraktar said, "We cannot say 'No' to nuclear in terms of reducing supply security and external dependence. We aim to reach a nuclear capacity of 20 gigawatts."

Infrastructure Capacity

Bayraktar stated that he hoped that the Iraq Türkiye Pipeline (ITP) would be opened and said that there was a large capacity of one and a half million barrels per day here. Emphasizing that they could buy LNG and gasify again with the infrastructure they created in natural gas or sell gas to Europe, Bayraktar noted that they will send an FSRU ship to Egypt for the summer season.

We Will Normalize Life

Stating that they will start supplying gas to Syria soon, Bayraktar said, "Maybe SOCAR will partner with us in this project. I hope we will normalize life in Syria," he said.

He Met With His Counterparts

Within the scope of the Vienna program, Minister Bayraktar held separate meetings with Azerbaijani Minister of Energy Perviz Şahbazov, Deputy President of Venezuela and Minister of Oil Delcy Rodríguez and Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq and Minister of Oil Hayyan Abdulgani.
