Türkiye-Azerbaijan 4. Energy Forum
Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, stated that they have switched the cooperation with Azerbaijan, which has been going on for nearly 20 years in natural gas and oil, to a different dimension with electricity, "Our new connection will be through electricity production lines. We have very ambitious goals regarding the return of renewable energy potential in Azerbaijan to production, to a large market like Türkiye and access to Europe via Türkiye," he said.

Türkiye-Azerbaijan 4th Energy Forum was held in Izmir. In addition to Minister Bayraktar, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Perviz Şahbazov and Azerbaijan President's Representative Responsible for Climate Issues and COP29 President Muhtar Babayev attended the event.
One Nation, Two States
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Minister Bayraktar emphasized that the bond of brotherhood between the two countries has continued unshaking throughout history, not only in the cultural and political fields but also in the economic and strategic fields, "The understanding of one nation and two states finds the most concrete reward with the great projects implemented in the energy sector." said.
Complementing Each Other
Minister Bayraktar stated that one of the most basic driving forces of development and prosperity is energy and said, "Türkiye and Azerbaijan assume complementary roles with their geostrategic location, rich resources and developed infrastructures and make very important contributions to regional and global energy supply security."
Joint Liability
Pointing out that the projects implemented so far in the oil and natural gas fields are the work of the common vision of the two countries, Bayraktar stated that strengthening the partnership in renewable energy and electricity transmission infrastructures has become a joint responsibility towards future generations.
Strategic Vision
Noting that Türkiye has a developed electricity market and strong infrastructure, and Azerbaijan has solar and wind potential, Bayraktar said, "I would like to express that we will continue the projects we have developed in the field of oil and gas within the scope of the strategic vision put forward by Azerbaijan and our Presidents in the field of electricity and renewable energy in the coming period."
Azerbaijan's Experience
Azerbaijan organized the very successful United Nations Climate Conference, and Türkiye's 31st Stating that he is a candidate for the Presidency of the Conference of the Parties, Bayraktar said that they will benefit from the experiences of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan's Minister of Energy Shahbazov emphasized that the strong cooperation of the two countries in energy is a strategic necessity and stated that they see Türkiye as their biggest ally on the way to a clean energy future.
Praise to Climate Policies
COP29 President Muhtar Babayev also stated that Türkiye has taken important steps thanks to its recent climate policies and that the adopted Climate Law shows Türkiye's determination in the fight against climate change.
After the speeches, Ministers Bayraktar and Şahbazov signed the Forum Protocol, which envisages the development of cooperation in the field of energy.
New Connection Electrical

From Nakhchivan to Türkiye
Guest Minister Şahbazov also said that they want to connect Azerbaijan and Türkiye through various interconnection lines in the fields of electricity and renewable energy. Stating that there is a project to build an interconnection line to Türkiye through the Nakhchivan region, Shahbazov pointed out that Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye and Bulgaria will be connected to each other. In this context, Shahbazov underlined that the Zengezur Corridor is an opportunity and said that the corridor will create an opportunity to connect not only Azerbaijan and Türkiye but the entire Turkish world.
6 Working Group
Within the scope of the forum, 6 working groups were formed with the participation of the relevant public and private sectors of Türkiye and Azerbaijan. The studies put forward by the 'hydrocarbon and petrochemical', 'renewable energy', 'electricity market, electricity distribution and transmission', 'regulation', 'energy efficiency' and 'mining' working groups will form the basis for the steps to be taken and agreements to be made in the coming period.
