Relations between Türkiye and Oman in the field of energy and mining deepen

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, who made a visit to Oman in July, signed a cooperation agreement in the field of energy with Oman Minister of Energy and Mines Salim Asser Al Aufi. This time, a new step was taken in the field of mining in Oman, which was the last stop of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's tour covering the Gulf countries.

New Memorandum of Understanding

Ministers Bayraktar and Al Aufi signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Mining and Critical Minerals" that will improve relations between the two countries in the field of mining and critical minerals.

 

Opportunities Will Be Determined

With the agreement reached, the two countries will share information and data about mining license areas and existing investment opportunities. It will determine the cooperation opportunities for mining investments.

 

Joint Investments

According to the agreement; joint investments for mineral exploration and production opportunities will be encouraged between public and private sector companies. Experience and information sharing in the fields of mining, critical minerals and earth sciences will be carried out.

 

Strategic Cooperation

Minister Bayraktar said on social media regarding the agreement reached, "In Oman, which is the last stop of the visit to the Gulf countries, we participated in the inter-delegation meeting held under the chairmanship of our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Sultan of Oman Heysem bin Tarık bin Teymur Al Said. On the margin of the meeting, we signed the "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Mining and Critical Minerals" with the Minister of Energy and Mines of Oman, Mr. Salim Nasser Al Aufi. With this agreement, we will encourage new collaborations and joint investments between public and private companies of both countries, and increase experience sharing in the field of earth sciences in order to explore new opportunities in mineral exploration and production. Our goal is to strengthen our strategic cooperation in this field with the concrete projects that both countries will win. All the best to our countries," he shared.

 

Muscat Visit

During Minister Bayraktar's visit to Muscat in July, a "Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Energy" was signed between the two countries, and it was decided to cooperate in the fields of oil, natural gas, electricity, renewable energy, energy efficiency and hydrogen technologies.
