One-Fifth of Total Installed Capacity Comes from Solar Energy
Türkiye's installed electricity capacity exceeded 121,000 megawatts at the end of September. Evaluating the September electricity data, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said, “The share of our solar energy installed capacity in the total has reached 19.9%. In other words, one-fifth of the total installed capacity comes from solar energy.”

Growth Continues
Türkiye's installed electricity capacity reached 121,418 megawatts in September. While the installed electricity capacity continued to increase, the share of renewable energy in the installed capacity also continued to rise. Renewable energy accounted for 74,746 megawatts, corresponding to 61.6% of the total installed electricity capacity.
Solar and Wind
The total installed capacity of wind and solar power reached 38,363 megawatts, accounting for 31.6 percent of the total installed capacity. Noting that solar power alone accounts for 19.9%, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, “In other words, one-fifth of the total installed capacity comes from solar power. When we add wind power, we see that 31.6% of the total installed capacity is based on these two sources.”
71% Domestic
Minister Bayraktar stated that the share of domestic resources in the total installed capacity broke a record at 71% as of the end of September, adding that 86,219 megawatts of the installed capacity came from domestic resources.
Major Transformation
Recalling that the annual electricity needs of all households in Türkiye are met solely by electricity generated from wind and solar power plants, Minister Bayraktar said, "With the steps we have taken, we are both developing our electricity sector and making a major transformation. We have increased the installed capacity in renewable energy from 12,000 megawatts in 2002 to approximately 75,000 megawatts today. Thanks to this, Türkiye has risen to 11th place globally and 5th place in Europe in the field of renewable energy. We aim to increase our installed capacity, which exceeds 38,000 megawatts in wind and solar power, to 120,000 megawatts over the next 10 years."
