Cooperation with South Korea on Nuclear Energy
An important step has been taken towards cooperation between Türkiye and South Korea in nuclear energy. A “Memorandum of Understanding on Nuclear Energy Cooperation” was signed between Türkiye Nuclear Energy Inc. (TÜNAŞ) and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO).

During South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's visit to Türkiye at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, several important cooperation agreements, including in the field of energy, were signed between Türkiye and South Korea.
Nuclear Energy Cooperation
Within this scope, a “Memorandum of Understanding on Nuclear Energy Cooperation” was also signed between TÜNAŞ and South Korea's KEPCO. The memorandum of understanding, signed in the presence of President Erdoğan and South Korean President Myung, was signed by TÜNAŞ CEO Necati Yamaç and KEPCO CEO Dong-Cheol Kim.
Sharing Know-how and Experience
The memorandum of understanding aims to facilitate the mutual sharing of technical data, information, experience, and know-how between Türkiye and South Korea, as well as joint projects.
Joint Work in the Nuclear Field
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, who shared information about the agreement on social media accounts, said, "We participated in the meeting between the delegations led by our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. Following the meeting, the ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Nuclear Energy Cooperation’ was signed between TÜNAŞ and KEPCO in the presence of our leaders. With this agreement, we aim to carry out joint work in many areas, from the development of nuclear power plant projects to the sharing of technology and know-how, from site evaluation to project financing and human resource development. I hope this agreement, which will crown our long-standing friendship with a strategic partnership in nuclear energy, will be beneficial for our countries."
