We Can Get Half Of The Natural Gas We Need As LNG

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, "As of today, Türkiye has become able to buy almost half of the natural gas it needs by ships as LNG." Minister Bayraktar also said that the LNG capacity is enough to meet the entire amount of natural gas needed by citizens in their homes, even in the coldest winter days when consumption is at its peak.

Minister Bayraktar said that in addition to the domestic production of natural gas, they contribute to energy supply security by diversifying the source country and supply routes.

161 Million Cubic Meters Of Gasification

Stating that Türkiye can buy LNG with 5 facilities, two of which are land LNG terminals and three of which are Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), Minister Bayraktar said, "Our LNG gasification capacity, which was 34 million cubic meters per day in 2016, when we implemented the National Energy and Mining Policy, has reached 161 million cubic meters with an increase of approximately 5 times today."

Half Of What You Need Is From LNG

Minister Bayraktar said, "As of today, Türkiye has become able to buy almost half of the natural gas it needs with ships as LNG."

Meets All the Needs of Housing

Noting that Türkiye needs an average of 330 million cubic meters of natural gas per day in the days when consumption reaches its peak, Bayraktar said, "Our LNG capacity can meet the entire amount of natural gas that our citizens need at home, even in the coldest winter days when consumption peaks."

Gas Removal Capacity

Stating that in addition to increasing the gasification capacity, they increased the number of entry points in the national natural gas network to 14, Bayraktar said, "We have increased our daily gas intake capacity to 495 million cubic meters." He also shared his knowledge.

Source and Cost Advantage

The process of liquefying natural gas is carried out in international trade in order to reduce the volume of gas and make it easily transportable. In the liquefication process, natural gas is cooled and liquidated and the volume of the gas is reduced by about 600 times. Türkiye, which can regasify liquid natural gas in its LNG facilities and FSRU units, has the opportunity to buy LNG from all over the world and gains an advantage in terms of cost thanks to this ability.
