The Seven Vega Ship Will Lay Pipelines in the Sakarya Gas Field
A new phase has been reached in the Sakarya Gas Field in the Black Sea. While Phase 1 of the project was completed with a daily production of 9.5 million cubic meters, an important step was taken for the infrastructure of Phase 2 works. In this context, the pipe-laying ship named Seven Vega, which arrived in Istanbul, anchored at Sarayburnu.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar visited the ship and was informed by officials. Minister Bayraktar stated that the ship would complete its work on the seabed in 40 days and that they aimed to meet the gas needs of 8 million households with an additional daily production of 10 million cubic meters in the second phase.
Pipe-Laying Ship
Seven Vega is recognized as one of the most advanced reel-laying vessels specially designed for deep-sea projects. The 143-meter-long vessel can perform installations at water depths of up to 3,000 meters.
Connecting Osman Gazi to the Wells
Seven Vega will install the pipelines that will be laid underwater as part of Phase 2. The pipeline to be installed will transport gas from the Phase 2 wells to the Osman Gazi Floating Production Unit. It will also transport the separated natural gas to the shore.
Will Reach 20 Million Cubic Meters
The pipeline, which will be completed at the beginning of the year, will be connected to the Osman Gazi Floating Production Unit, which will be anchored to the field by mid-2026. With this connection, a daily production of 10 million cubic meters will be achieved. Thus, the total production capacity at the field will reach 20 million cubic meters per day.
Gas for 4 Million Households
Minister Bayraktar inspected the ship anchored at Sarayburnu. After receiving information about the ship's operations, Bayraktar made statements to journalists. Minister Bayraktar stated that they had completed the first phase with a daily production of 9.5 million cubic meters at the Sakarya Gas Field and that they were supplying natural gas to 4 million households from there. He also mentioned that they had sent off the Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform to the Black Sea on May 29.
Connecting the Wells
Minister Bayraktar stated that preparations for Osman Gazi are continuing in Filyos, saying, "We will complete our work on the seabed with the Seven Vega ship we are currently on. In other words, the work on our wells is more or less complete. Now we are sending this ship to the Black Sea to connect our wells to each other and then connect the production pipes there to Osman Gazi."
Bayraktar stated that Seven Vega will carry out approximately 40 days of work, adding, "When Osman Gazi is ready in June-July 2026, it will go to its location at sea, and we will start production in the second phase by making these connections. Our goal in the second phase is to reach a production capacity of approximately 10 million cubic meters, as in the first phase, and to increase the gas supply from 4 million households to 8 million households."
Arriving on Wednesday
Bayraktar reminded that Fatih, Yavuz, Kanuni, and Abdülhamid Han, deep-sea drilling ships in the Turkish energy fleet, continue their activities in the Black Sea, and stated that one of the two ships joining the fleet this year is in Mersin Taşucu. Announcing that the second ship will also be in Mersin on Wednesday, Bayraktar said, “It will need about 1-2 months of operation. After that, it will begin its mission in the Black Sea.”
6 New Drills
Bayraktar stated that in addition to increasing current production in the Black Sea, they plan to conduct six new exploratory drilling operations by 2026. He said, “We will carry out these new drilling operations in promising locations in the Eastern, Central, and Western Black Sea.”
