We Will Do A Drilling That We Think Is Petroleum

Minister Bayraktar said, "This activity we will do in Somalia is a job that can have a game-changing effect in the whole region. We hope from there. At the end of a serious study, we decided on that location. We will do a drilling there, which we think is more oil-saled," he said. Noting that there is a sea depth of 3 thousand 480 meters in Somalia, Bayraktar said, "So, there is a water thickness of 3.5 kilometers. After that, we will drill another 3.5 kilometers. If there is, we aim to find and extract the oil there," he said.

Minister Bayraktar answered the questions of journalist Taha Hüseyin Karagöz in Filyos and made statements about the steps Türkiye will take in the field of energy in 2026.

Working For More Than A Year

Reminding that they will do a drilling in Somalia, Bayraktar said that they have been working in the field and in the offices for more than a year for the drilling decision, and that they also use artificial intelligence in these studies.

Domestic Gas for 8 Million Households

Stating that Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform, which will be commissioned in the Black Sea, will produce 9-10 million gas per day and send it ashore, Bayraktar said that the production will double and that 8 million households will be able to use domestic gas.

New Production Platform in 2028

Bayraktar stated that the new floating production platform, which has a capacity twice as larger than Osman Gazi and produces 20-25 million cubic meters per day, will come to Türkiye in 2028 and said, "We aim to be here like March-April 2028."

His Name May Be 'Orhan Gazi'

Speaking about the name of the new floating production platform, Bayraktar said, "I don't know what the name will be that day, but let me tell you what's on my mind; maybe 'Orhan Gazi' may be because they will perform the same task." Stating that two floating production platforms will be ready by entering the winter of 2028, Bayraktar said, "We will meet the natural gas of 16-17 million households ourselves. That's the goal," he said.

59 Thousand Tests for REE’s

Explaining the studies on rare earth elements (REE), Bayraktar stated that 125 thousand meters of drilling and 59 thousand tests were carried out in Eskişehir Beylikova.

It Can Take Us To A Different Point

Giving information about the shale oil exploration in Diyarbakır, Bayraktar said, "2026 will be a year in which we will test horizontal drilling and this conventional production method. A positive news we will get from there can really take us to a very different point. It may be one of the events of 2026," he said.
