TPAO and EXXONMOBIL Join Forces

An important memorandum of understanding was signed between Türkiye’s TPAO and ExxonMobil's subsidiary ESSO Exploration International Limited. The agreement, which includes new search areas in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, will also cover other potential international areas to be mutually agreed upon.

Signatures Were Signed In Istanbul

TPAO General Manager Cem Erdem and Exxonmobil Vice President John Ardill, signed at the ceremony held in Istanbul. Attending the ceremony, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar made the following statement on social media:

 

“A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the oil and natural gas sector has been signed between our national oil company TPAO and ExxonMobil affiliate ESSO Exploration International Limited, covering new exploration areas in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, as well as other potential international areas to be mutually agreed upon.

 

By combining technical capabilities in deep sea exploration and drilling together with ExxonMobil’s international experience, we aim to enhance our operational effectiveness and pave the way for new discoveries.

 

In line with our goal of a fully energy-independent Türkiye, we are strengthening our capabilities through international collaborations and moving forward to becoming the energy hub of our region.”
