Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform was sent off to Sakarya Gas Field, where it will serve in the Black Sea, with a ceremony held at Zonguldak Filyos Port.

President Erdoğan Sent a Video Message

In addition to Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, AK Party Group Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Abdullah Güler, President of Türkiye Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission Mustafa Varank, Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu and workers and citizens from Zonguldak also attended the ceremony where President Erdoğan sent a video message.

Take The Colors Of The Flag

In the video message he sent, President Erdoğan said, "I pray to God that the Osman Gazi Floating Production Platform, which is decorated with the colors of our red flag, will have good services for our country and our nation."

Floating Industrial Facility

Reminding that they announced the first floating production platform in July 2024, President Erdoğan said, "In May last year, we sent off the platform, which we named as Osman Gazi, from Dolmabahçe Palace to Filyos. Today, we are opening a brand new page in our energy history. We are sending Osman Gazi, which is almost a floating industrial facility, to the Black Sea to his place of duty," he said.

Blue Homeland's First Factory

President Erdoğan pointed out that within the vision of the Century of Türkiye, Osman Gazi is the first factory of the Blue Homeland, and said, "It is an energy castle that floats with a length of 298.5 meters, a width of 56 meters, a depth of 29.5 meters and 140 staff. With 21 different units on it, it will process the gas it receives from the wells in our Sakarya Gas Field and send it to Filyos, where you are now, with pipelines laid under the sea. Thus, our natural gas production in the Black Sea will double to 20 million cubic meters per day, and since the beginning of 2027, one out of every three households will use our domestic natural gas."

The Goal of Full Independence in Energy

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar stated that they opened the doors of a new era in our natural gas production and that they are one step closer to the goal of full independence in energy in the Turkish Century, and said, "Türkiye is no longer a country that can not only seek and discover natural gas, but also processes natural gas on the sea and delivers it to land."

The First Fire Will Burn This Year

Stating that Osman Gazi's great engineering success is also very important in terms of showing the level of Türkiye’s operational capability in the seas in oil and gas exploration, Minister Bayraktar said, "Our work continues, our goal is to hopefully light the fire of Sakarya Gas Field in the flame tower of Osman Gazi at the end of this year in December."

7.23 Billion Cubic Meters Production

Minister Bayraktar said that they have produced 7.23 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Sakarya Gas Field in the 1st phase so far and have completed the first phase by reaching a total of 9 and a half million cubic meters on a daily basis in 12 wells.

Domestic Gas for 8 Million Households

Explaining that Osman Gazi will double this production in the 2nd phase with an additional 10 wells, Bayraktar said, "With the year 2027, our total daily production capacity will reach 20 million cubic meters. Thus, our domestic gas, which is currently used in 4 million houses, will double and enter our 8 million households."

3 out of every 4 houses

Minister Bayraktar stated that with the new platform, which is under construction, their production in the Black Sea will increase to a total of 45 million cubic meters per day with 32 wells in 2028 and said, "In 2028, 75 percent of the houses with natural gas in our country, that is, approximately 17 million households, will use Black Sea gas in their living spaces, kitchens and bathrooms. Our own gas will burn in 3 of every 4 houses," he said.

Natural Gas Instead Of A Thousand Settlements

Reminding that President Erdoğan set the goal of spreading natural gas, which was only in 5 provinces in 2002 and now making it available to all citizens, Minister Bayraktar said, "Today, there is natural gas in 81 provinces and 995 settlements in Türkiye. In this way, all our citizens, where natural gas is provided, use this fuel that increases the comfort of life, makes our lives easier and improves the air quality of our cities. Hopefully, we will increase the number of our settlements with natural gas access to a thousand before the end of this year. We will continue to extract natural gas safely and uninterruptedly to every point of our country with our 257 thousand kilometers of natural gas network, which circulates around the world 6 and a half times, our daily natural gas input capacity of 495 million cubic meters, and our underground natural gas storage facility, which has reached the level of 6.3 billion cubic meters.

Türkiye will be Fully Independent in Energy

Minister Bayraktar stated that Türkiye is the country with the fourth largest energy fleet in the world with 6 deep sea drilling ships, 2 seismic research ships and support ships, and said, "There is a Türkiye that produces natural gas in the depths of the Black Sea, oil on the snowy peaks of Gabar, crosses the borders of the Blue Homeland, and is looking for oil in Somalia on the coast of Africa. However, we did not come to this point easily. We went through very difficult tests. Despite the hidden or open embargoes, all kinds of obstructions, slanders and double standards, we cling tightly to the ideal of 'Fully Independent Türkiye in Energy'. We have overcome these obstacles one by one with the self-confidence revolution, which is one of the biggest revolutions that our President has carried out in our country." he said.

Target 1 Million Barrels Per Day Production

Sharing that Turkish Petroleum has doubled its production to approximately 300 thousand barrels, especially with new discoveries, particularly in the last 5 years, Minister Bayraktar said, "Our goal is to increase this figure to 550 thousand barrels in 2028, but hopefully one million barrels per day. That is why Türkiye continues these searches intensively today in Iraq, Azerbaijan, Somalia, Pakistan, Hungary, Bulgaria, Oman and Libya. We are determined to make our country a regional leader and a global player in this field with our own ships, our own engineers,  technicians and equipment.”

He Left The Port By Ringing The Siren

After the prayer recites by  Zonguldak Provincial Mufti Bayram Danacı, Osman Gazi sounded the siren and left Filyos Port, the protocol waved and said goodbye to the platform. Meanwhile, Minister Bayraktar said, "I would like to thank Zonguldak for hosting us in all Black Sea operations. Good luck to our state, our nation, our country. As our President said, we hope to say goodbye to Osman Gazi, who will contribute to the energy independence of our country by producing a lot of gas from Sakarya Gas Field."

3 Football Fields Long
