8th International Energy Congress and Fair
Underlining the need for energy resources diversification through deployment of renewable and indigenous sources, Minister Alaboyun stated: “We have a very important shortfall and it is nuclear energy. Turkey without nuclear means Turkey with no energy in the future. I assume that one or two reactors in our first nuclear power plant Akkuyu will be taken into operation by 2023.”
In his speech delivered at the 8th International Energy Congress and Fair, Minister Alaboyun stated that organizing such events in the capital city Ankara bears a particular importance. Underlining the fact that Turkey is a poor country in terms of crude oil and natural gas resources, although has a high potential in renewables and in other indigenous energy sources, Minister Alaboyun expressed that Turkey’s target is to double its installed capacity in the forthcoming 8 years.
