Underlining the need for energy resources diversification through deployment of renewable and indigenous sources, Minister Alaboyun stated: “We have a very important shortfall and it is nuclear energy. Turkey without nuclear means Turkey with no energy in the future. I assume that one or two reactors in our first nuclear power plant Akkuyu will be taken into operation by 2023.”

Turkey is a natural energy bridge and an energy hub between energy sources in the Middle Eastern and Caspian Regions and European Union (EU) energy markets. Turkey's development as an energy hub will be to the benefit of both Turkey and the EU.

While stating that TANAP bears a particular importance both in terms of its route and target, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan underlined: “As this very Project is not an alternative to any other projects, there are no other alternatives to this Project either”.

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yıldız attended the program “in BTC 2 Billion Barrels of Joy” held at the Ceyhan Marine Terminal due to the fact that the petrol amount transferred to the world markets from the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) Crude Oil Pipeline reached to 2 billion barrels.
